SHUN ANTI PARTY ACTIVITY’, AKOBUNDU CHARGES PDP FAITHFULS IN UMUAHIA NORTH, AS HE INAUGURATES GRASS ROOT CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE
Former Minister of State Defence and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) candidate for Abia Central Senatorial district in the 2023 elections, Col Austin Akobundu rtd, has alerted the PDP officials in Umuahia North on the dangers of engaging in anti party activities during next year’s elections.
According to him, the party will do well if its members support all the PDP candidates and ensure that it records a resounding victory in all the elections, saying that as true party men or women, they should abide by the decisions of the party.
Akobundu spoke on Friday when he visited PDP Stakeholders in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State at its party secretariat along Bank Road Umuahia as part of his ongoing Thank You/Consultation visit to PDP faithful in Abia Central Senatorial district.
He stated that the party is large enough to accommodate people with diverse interests and opinions and assured them of his readiness to include them in the scheme of things if he is elected as Senator in 2023 elections.
The immediate past National Organising Secretary of PDP described Umuahia North as the melting point of the Nigerian politics, even as he saluted the statesmanship and patriotism of Nigerian leaders such as former Head of State, Gen Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi, former Premier of Eastern Region, Dr Michael Okpara, immediate past governor of Abia State and Senator, representing Abia Central, Chief T A Orji, pioneer Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Onyema Ugochukwu all from Umuahia North.
On the exclusion of the party officials as statutory delegates, the PDP Abia Central Senatorial hopeful for 2023 election appealed to them to take it as an act of God. He therefore assured, “If I’m elected as Senator from this district, I’ll carry everybody along. We should work hard because the 2023 elections will be unit based”.
In his opening remarks, the Director General, Austin Akobundu Campaign Council, Pastor Emeka Inyama, described the former minister as the most credible candidate for the Abia Central Senatorial seat and asked the people to support him during the election next year.
The Coordinator of the campaign council in Umuahia North, Chief BSI Onuigbo, a member of the campaign council, Chief Obi Njoku as well as a former lawmaker in the state, Sir Emeka Ejiogu, assured the former minister of the readiness of the people to support him in all his future ambitions.
Amongst those that attended the event include: PDP Chairman, Umuahia North, Mr Millar Ogueri, a former Deputy Transition Committee Chairman of Umuahia North, Elder Ndubuisi Nwosu, Women Leader of PDP in the area, Mrs Rose Adiele, Chairman of PDP Ward 2, Mr Eme Odeghi.
